Play, swim or fish at our beautiful private river frontage spot along Strother Creek where crystal clear, clean waters flow.
We are 90 miles from St. Louis, nestled in the St. François Mountains, the oldest mountain range in the United States in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks near the Black River. Here you can experience your best family vacation close to floating in Lesterville and within the scenic Arcadia Valley region. This is the best area for a weeklong family farm vacation. We offer opportunities to experience Ozarks farm living in our peaceful valley.
Koinania is Southeast Missouri’s most Family Friendly Nature Vacation option. We have rental cottages and a cabin, which are nestled among the trees in a quiet valley located on over 100 acres of privately owned property complete with pastures, creeks and springs, small stocked lake, mountain views and river frontage flowing into the Black River and is surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest.
Enjoy Koinania any time of the year. Our Cottages and Cabin provides lodging near so many Missouri recreational opportunities. During your time here may we suggest ideas which our guests have already tried and tested for your weeklong stay with our suggested itinerary. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall there are recreational opportunities within minutes of Koinania. See the scenic views and enjoy historic tours. Take a day and experience a Black river float trip in canoes or rafts or visit the many state parks and historical sites near by such as Elephant Rocks, Taum Sauk Mountain, the highest point in Missouri, or Johnson's Shut-ins State Park. Enjoy a day at Council Bluff Lake or visit a working Grist Mill at Dillard’s Mill. Take a day and go Horseback riding just 15 minutes from Koinania Cottage.
Enjoy Hiking the Ozarks Trail, antiques and specialty shops throughout the Arcadia Valley including Caledonia, Ironton, Arcadia, Lesterville and Viburnum. Visit Missouri historic towns and villages as well as Fort Davidson State Historic Site, scene of the Missouri Civil War Battle of Pilot Knob. Expect to stay at least a week to really capture the flavor and beauty of this area.

"Back in the 50's and early 60's my uncle from Bismarck and I fished many of the clear streams in your area for small mouth bass. We particularly liked Strother Creek. We would wade and fish from where it runs into the Black River up to the old swimming hole. Then we would fish upstream to where the creek crossed the road." Mr. Cox- Kansas
FISHING at the private river frontage provides the best of Old fashioned creek fishing and catching impressive small mouth bass.
"We haven't taken a family vacation in years, this was a real treat; quiet, peaceful, invigorating quality family togetherness. We absolutely loved wading in your creek up the road, BBQing for dinners and campfires too. The state parks around here are also nice but relaxing on your grounds was by far the winner!"
